Several problems that dairy cows should pay attention to in the application of concentrate feed

August 11, 2020

(1) The diet should contain 16% to 19% of crude protein (CP). Excessive CP may cause male and female reproductive disorders.

(2) The degradable protein in the diet should account for 60% to 65% of the total CP.

(3) For dairy cows with a daily output of 35kg or more, consider the addition of high-quality rumen protein feed or rumen-free amino acids.

(4) When diets are dominated by corn silage and corn, consideration should be given to the addition of limiting amino acids such as lysine and methionine (which must be protected by rumen bypass lysine and methionine).

(5) The degradation rate of corn gluten meal and fish meal in the rumen is low, while that of soybean meal and cotton aphid is easy to be degraded. Cereal proteins lack essential amino acids (EAA), especially lysine, methionine. The levels of methionine and cystine in soybean meal and cottonseed meal were lower than normal, and the lysine content in cottonseed meal was also low.
